Rudolf Arnold, who worked and taught at the university hospital in Marburg and currently lives in Munich, received the ENETS Life Achievement Award in 2009 in recognition of his notable career in NET research and treatment.
Having been taught by Werner Creutzfeldt, he continued in basic and seminal clinical research, defining the clinical diagnosis, clinical course and treatment modalities of NET.
He particularly investigated biotherapeutic treatment strategies, heading trailblazing clinical trials, including his most recent, which is the only placebo-controlled randomized clinical trial with octreotide in midgut NET (PROMID).
