Care of NET Patients at the Skåne University Hospital-Lund University, Sweden: A Model for the Multidisciplinary Approach to the Diagnosis and Treatment of NET

Introduction: The varied and nonspecific symptoms of neuroendocrine tumors (NET) often delay diagnosis until the disease has progressed. Input from various medical specialties can improve access to and delivery of care.
Aim(s): To develop a multidisciplinary team at the Skåne University Hospital-Lund University, Sweden.
Materials and methods: A multidisciplinary team was formed with representatives from radiology, nuclear medicine, pathology, surgery, gastroenterology, endocrinology and oncology, and participates in weekly multidisciplinary video conferences where patient cases are presented and discussed, and treatment recommendations made.
