O-Positive Blood Group Is Associated with Prolonged Recurrence-Free Survival Following Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumor (PanNET) Curative-Intent Surgical Resection

#2926

Introduction: The ABO blood group may influence the development and progression of cancer. In particular, the prognosis of pancreatic adenocarcinoma is better in patients with blood group O. This has not been extensively explored in PanNET.

Aim(s): Assess the influence of the ABO and Rhesus blood groups on the risk of recurrence following curative-intent PanNET surgical resection.

Materials and methods: All consecutive patients operated on for well-differentiated panNET in an expert center were retrospectively studied. ABO blood group and Rhesus system distributions were compared to that of the French population. The primary endpoint was recurrence-free survival (RFS). The association of clinical and pathological features with RFS were explored using Cox proportional hazard models.
