Postoperative Complications after Previous Peptide-Receptor Radionuclide Therapy

Introduction: Treatment with radiation or chemotherapy can result in a higher rate of postoperative complications.

Aim(s): To compare the surgical complication rate after previous peptide-receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT).

Materials and methods: Eighty-three patients with advanced neuroendocrine tumors underwent abdominal surgery. PRRT were performed in 30 patients in Group A (1-8 cycles, mean 3.2, Yttrium-90 and/or Lutetium-90, cumulative dosage 14.75 GBq). After nine months (mean 266 days), surgery was performed. Group B (53 patients) underwent surgery without previous PRRT.
