Robot-assisted Distal Pancreatectomy for Insulinoma. A Case Report

Introduction: A literature review on laparoscopic pancreatic resection was conducted with emphasis on its applicability and safety. The outcome of the procedures for pancreatic insulinoma is similar to open surgery.

Aim(s): We analyzed the feasibility and safety of patients undergoing robot-assisted distal pancreatic resection for insulinoma.

Materials and methods: A 59 y.o. female patient with 11 years history of epilepsy was referred to our department. A plasma glucose level obtained two weeks ago during epileptic seizure was 2.0 mmol/l. We found elevation of plasma insulin and plasma C-peptide level. US, MDCT, Endo-US were negative. Only MRI localized a 11 mm tumor-like area in the pancreatic tail.
