#1911 Histological Differentiation Provides Useful, Additive and Independent Prognostic Information to Proliferation Index in G2 and G3 Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms (GEP-NENs)
Introduction: The WHO 2010 classification has provided a valuable tool to stratify NEN prognosis based on an objective measure, the proliferation index. However, morphology and, in particular, tumor differentiation, is emerging again as a relevant feature that should not be dismissed due to its important clinical implications.

#99 Gene mutations and Hypoxia Inducible Factor (HIF-1) expression as prognostic-predictive factors in pheochromocytomas/paragangliomas (P/P)
Introduction: P/P are rare tumors sporadically associated with familial disorders. In advanced/unresectable disease, no standard treatment has so far been well established. Recently a mutation of some genes (SDHB, SDHC, SDHD) involved in the pathogenesis of familial P/P was discovered. These mutations are often associated with an over-expression of HIF-1, which plays a central role in angiogenesis and cell proliferation. This pathway is known to be inhibited by some targeted therapies, such as sunitinib or sorafenib.

#138 The use of F-18-FDG-PET for patients with neuroendocrine tumors
Introduction: Neoplastic tissue exhibits high glucose utilization, which can be imaged by 18F-Fluorodeoxyglucose-positron emission tomography (FDG-PET). Whether FDG-PET is useful for neuroendocrine (NE) tumors, however, is questionable, due to the slow growth rate often observed in these tumors.

#387 Combined Blockade of Several Signalling Pathways Shows Marked Anti-Tumor Potential in Two Novel Mouse Phaeochromocytoma Cell Lines
Introduction: The current study explores novel targeted therapies for malignant pheochromocytomas (PCCs) and paragangliomas, utilizing a more benign (MPC) and a more malignant (MTT) PCC cell line. We have previously shown that the dual PI3K/mTORC1 inhibitor NVP-BEZ235 significantly reduced MPC and MTT cell viability, but increased ERK signalling.

#737 Impact of Ki-67 Proliferative Index on Survival in Patients with Typical and Atypical Pulmonary Carcinoids
Introduction: Currently pulmonary carcinoids are separated into typical and atypical tumors based on mitotic count and presence of necrosis, according to the WHO classification. Whereas for GEP NETs the ENETS Guidelines have been incorporated into the WHO classification and grading is based on mitotic counts and Ki-67 index, the use of the Ki-67 index for grading pulmonary carcinoids is still under debate.

Introduction: The CXCR4 is a plasma membrane chemokine receptor, which is involved in organogenesis, hematopoiesis and inflammation. Additionally, an over-expression is described for many neoplastic tissues. Here, an involvement in tumor progression, metastasis, adaptation to hypoxia and in stem cell survival is postulated.
