#827 Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Pancreas Grade 2 with Ki-67 Index More Than 5% and with Expression Cytokeratin 19 are the Risk Group of Rapid Progression
Introduction: Cytokeratin 19 (CK19) is the marker of pluripotent cells of the epithelium of the pancreatic ducts, which is not detected in differentiated endocrine cells. Our experience shows that many patients with neuroendocrine tumors of the pancreas (pNET) G2 have a rapid progression of the disease a few years after diagnosis, and metastases are found most commonly in the liver.

#9 Case Management of Metastatic carcinoid of the Foregut,Midgut and Hindgut:the relevance of Ki-67 prognostication
Introduction: The predictive value of tumor grade in the prognosis of carcinoid is insufficient and somehow misleading. The grade and differentiation in carcinoid tumors must be seen in conjunction with the Ki-67 index. The Ki-67 protein is a cellular marker for proliferation, present during all active phases of the cell cycle (G1, S, G2 and mitosis) and absent from resting cells (G0). It is therefore an excellent marker to determine the growth fraction of a given cell population. The Ki-67 labelling index is often correlated with the clinical course of carcinoid.

#70 The validity of Ki-67 as a prognostic indicator in patients with appendiceal carcinoid tumor
Introduction: Carcinoid tumors of the appendix are rare and often discovered incidentally through appendectomy. Most are clinically benign but may be associated with metastatic disease. Ki-67, a nuclear protein structurally associated with chromatin, is an excellent marker for measuring cell proliferation and it has been shown to correlate with the outcome in pancreatic and ileocecal carcinoids.

#756 Evaluation of VEGF, VEGFR 1-2-3 and Endocan/ESM-1 Expression in Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors and Correlation with Ki-67 Labeling and Prognosis
Introduction: Angiogenesis is recognized to play a critical role in progressive tumor growth and spreading and its inhibition is a valuable approach to cancer treatment. Markers of angiogenesis include assessment of microvessel density on tissue sections (often evaluated with antibodies against pan-endothelial antigens, such as CD34) and expression of vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and its receptors (VEGFR 1-2-3). Endocan, also called endothelial cell specific molecule-1 (ESM-1), has been shown to be expressed by endothelial tumor cells and especially by tip cells during angiogenesis. Endocan is highly up-regulated by pro-angiogenic molecules, such as VEGF. Recently, Endocan has been identified to be one of the molecules involved in the switch from dormant to fast-growing tumors. Among endocrine tumors, Endocan expression has been evaluated only in pituitary adenomas: a positive association between endothelial Endocan expression and recurrence risk, tumor size, tumoral invasion and average mitosis count has been demonstrated. In contrast, there was no association between endothelial Endocan expression and the Ki-67 labeling index
