#2028 Education and Preparation for Nuclear Medicine Procedures in Neuroendocrine Tumor Patients
Introduction: In 2007, a coalition of health care organizations formed around the a unified goal of improving imaging safety and quality for adults (Image Wisely) and children (Image Gently). In 2008, the Society of Nuclear Medicine (SNMMI) joined this coalition, embracing its role in providing outreach to the patient community. The Society has created an annual patient program to reach patients and caregivers, and is continually seeking input from the patient community to improve the program and other online educational resources.

#2978 Policy Barriers to Increasing Access to Radioligand Therapy for Neuroendocrine Cancers
Introduction: Radioligand therapy is a relatively new treatment approach used in a small number of neuroendocrine cancers and has been shown to improve overall survival and quality of life. Yet because it uses radioactivity, there are particular barriers to its greater integration into cancer care. As neuroendocrine cancers are rare, it is all the more urgent that these barriers be understood and overcome so that this treatment modality can become available to all patients who may benefit.

#2805 Small Bowel Neuroendocrine Tumor Metastases: Comparison of Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography and 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT
Introduction: Most gastrointestinal neuroendocrine tumors (GI-NETs) involve the small intestine (38%) and about 50% of patients present with regional or distant metastases at time of diagnosis [2]. 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT provides improved sensitivity and specificity compared to traditional nuclear medicine techniques [4]. However, there is relatively less data comparing performance of 68Ga-DOTATATE PET/CT with contrast-enhanced CT (CECT).

#142 The role of 18F DOPA-PET in a case of malignant pheochromcytoma
Introduction: Pheocromocytoma is a rare tumor arising from chromaffin cells of adrenal medullary or extra adrenal paraganglionic tissue. Histological criteria cannot differentiate benign from malignant pheocromocytomas. The diagnosis of a malignant pheocromocytoma requires local invasion, recurrence and documented metastatic disease. The radionuclide scanning (123I - 131I-MIBG) is a fundamental diagnostic tool used to confirm the biochemical and radiological diagnosis of pheochromocytoma. In fact, MIBG scanning may confirm that the visualised lesion in an adrenal gland is indeed a pheochromocytoma and detect extra-adrenal paraganglionic tissue. However, MIBG scans are negative in around 15% of benign pheochromocytomas and in up to 50% of malignant ones. Other radionuclide techniques (18FDG-PET, 18F-DOPA-PET, 18F-FDA-PET) have been successfully used in investigation of pheochromocytomas. 18F-DOPA-PET and 18F-FDA-PET have been reported to be highly sensitive and specific for benign pheochromocytomas, while 18FDG-PET can be useful for malignant lesions with higher metabolic activity.
