#64 Sustained response to anti IGFR-1R monoclonal antibody combined with docetaxel in a patient with metastatic adrenocortical carcinoma
Introduction: Adrenocortical carcinoma (ACC) is a rare neoplasm with poor prognosis. Treatment results in advanced disease are disappointing and median survival is less than 12 months. There is no standard chemotherapy, even though mitotane and cisplatin-based regimens are frequently used with limited efficacy. In vitro data suggest that overexpressed insulin growth factor-2 (IGF-2) acting via the IGF-1 receptor (IGF-1R) is relevant for ACC and that the IGF-1R and 2R pathway is a promising target.

#55 Metronomic combination therapy including temozolamide, bevacizumab and somatostatin analogue for the treatment of malignant gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors
Introduction: Malignant gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (GEPNETS), mainly carcinoids, are not considered to be particularly chemotherapy-sensitive to conventional chemotherapeutic schemes. Long-standing evidence suggests these tumors to be highly vascularised and responsive to antiangiogenic strategies. Newest reports demonstrate benefit by the use of temozolamide, an oral alkylating agent similar to intravenous dacarbazine. The DNA repair enzyme O6-alkylguanine–DNA alkyltransferase (AGAT) confers cancer cell resistance to O6-alkylating agents such as temozolamide through its ability to remove methyl/alkyl groups from the O6-position of guanine, thus correcting drug-induced DNA damage.

Introduction: Merkel cell polyomavirus (MCPyV) DNA has been detected by PCR in 75–100% of Merkel cell carcinomas (MCC), an aggressive neuroendocrine skin cancer. MCPyV is a 5.4 kb DNA virus that expresses tumor (T) antigen in tumor tissues.

#70 The validity of Ki-67 as a prognostic indicator in patients with appendiceal carcinoid tumor
Introduction: Carcinoid tumors of the appendix are rare and often discovered incidentally through appendectomy. Most are clinically benign but may be associated with metastatic disease. Ki-67, a nuclear protein structurally associated with chromatin, is an excellent marker for measuring cell proliferation and it has been shown to correlate with the outcome in pancreatic and ileocecal carcinoids.

#153 Antibody formation against somatostatin analogues with altered biodistribution and dosimetry: a case with implications for PRRT
Introduction: Peptide receptor radionuclide therapy (PRRT) of neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) has emerged as a powerful palliative therapy. I.v. administration of radiolabeled (e.g. Yttrium-90) somatostatin analogues (SA) results in high-dose local irradiation of all tumor sites. The radiolabelled SA accumulates in the tumors through receptor-mediated internalization depending on the expression of somatostatin receptors and the pharmacokinetics of the radiolabelled SA.
