#2742 Anti-Tumor Effects of Semaphorin 4D Blockade Unravel a Novel Pro-Invasive Mechanism of Vascular Targeting Agents
Introduction: One of the main consequences of inhibition of neovessel growth produced by angiogenesis inhibitors is increased intratumor hypoxia. Growing evidence indicates that tumor cells escape from this hypoxic environment to better nourished locations, presenting hypoxia as a positive stimulus for invasion. Particularly, anti-VEGF/R therapies produce hypoxia-induced invasion and metastasis in a spontaneous mouse model of pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, RIP1-Tag2.

#2795 Molecular Correlation of the Activity of Evofosfamide (EVO) in Combination with Sunitinib (SUN) in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors (pNETs) in the SUNEVO GETNE Trial
Introduction: MEN1, DAXX, ATRX, and PI3K/AKT/mTOR pathway genes are frequently mutated in pNETs. Sunitinib is approved and widely used in the metastatic setting but unfortunately, no validated predictive biomarker has been identified to guide therapy yet. The SUNEVO phase II trial of the Spanish Task Force Group for Neuroendocrine and Endocrine Tumours (GETNE) trial combined the pro-drug of EVO under SUN-induced hypoxic conditions.

#77 Angiogenesis markers after hepatic artery embolization of liver metastases in patients with neuroendocrine tumors
Introduction: In the event of diffuse hepatic metastases, hepatic artery embolization (HAE) can be a successful treatment option in patients with well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (WNET). Although there are suggestions of activation of the angiogenesis by HAE, no information is available about the development of growth factors caused by vascular obstruction with embolization.

#536 Orexins Exert a Pro-Apoptotic Effect on Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) in an Ex Vivo Culture Model of Tissue Slices
Introduction: Ex vivo culture models of tissue slices are suitable to test the effect of antitumor agents in human tumors. The orexins are neuropeptides binding to G protein-coupled receptors (OX1-R and OX2-R), exerting a pro-apoptotic effect in human colon and pancreatic cancer cell lines.

#682 Neuroendocrine Tumors, Searching for New Prognostic Biomarkers
Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) of the digestive system were once considered relatively rare, however, the incidence is increasing. New prognostic biomarkers are needed for assessment of tumor behavior to inform patient treatment and improve outcome. The proliferation marker, Ki-67, is used for NET grading. Although classified as low grade, some tumors actually develop metastases.

#1078 Somatostatin Responsive ACTH and Precursor Excess in a Midgut Mesentery NET
Introduction: ACTH production from a midgut mesentery NET is extremely rare (1). A 62y old woman presented with hypokalaemia (2mmol/L) and hyperpigmentation, 11y after surgery of a pT3N1Mx non-functional G1 NET with SRS positive, non-resectable but stable, residual mass encasing mesenteric vessels. Serum cortisol (3261 nmol/L), ACTH (796 ng/L), CgA (530 pmol/L) and urine total cortisol metabolites (33920 µg/24h) including 14 sub-products indicated change of biological behaviour into a functioning NET. Pituitary or pulmonary sources were excluded

#1301 Role of TSC22D1 (TGFβ-Stimulated Clone 22 Domain Family Member 1) in Bronchial Carcinoids
Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) include bronchial carcinoids, either typical (TC) or atypical (AC). Tsc22d1 encodes for a member of TSC22 domain family of leucine zipper transcription factors; the protein (TSC22D1) is stimulated by TGFβ. Microarray data analysis obtained comparing a pool of TC tissue specimens with a pool of AC tissue specimens shows TSC22D1 down-regulation in AC samples. These data were confirmed by real time PCR and Western blot in vitro models of TC (NCI-H727 cells) and AC (NCI-H720 cells)
