Introduction: Increased levels of serotonin secretion are associated with mesenteric fibrosis (MF) in small intestinal neuroendocrine tumors (SI-NETs). However, only a proportion of patients with increased serotonin production will develop mesenteric fibrosis.

Introduction: One of the main consequences of inhibition of neovessel growth produced by angiogenesis inhibitors is increased intratumor hypoxia. Growing evidence indicates that tumor cells escape from this hypoxic environment to better nourished locations, presenting hypoxia as a positive stimulus for invasion. Particularly, anti-VEGF/R therapies produce hypoxia-induced invasion and metastasis in a spontaneous mouse model of pancreatic neuroendocrine cancer, RIP1-Tag2.

#359 Expression of UCH-L1 in Pancreatic Endocrine Tumors and Its Clinical Significance
Introduction: Pancreatic endocrine tumors (PETs) are rare tumors with distinct clinical syndromes. There is a lack of reliable biomarker to distinguish benign and malignant form of PETs as well as to predict its prognosis. Our previous proteomic study on insulinoma found that overexpression of UCH-L1 in tumors. The diagnostic or prognostic value of this protein has not been well addressed in PETs.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETS) arise from the diffuse endocrine system which produce biogenic amines and peptides that could be potential biomarker. We previously analysed proteomes secreted by NET cell lines and identified mac2BP as a putative marker which was also elevated in patients compared to healthy controls.

#788 A Novel Animal Model for Medullary Thyroid Carcinoma
Introduction: Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) is a neuroendocrine cancer originating from calcitonin-producing C-cells. Surgical resection is the most effective treatment currently available. Understanding the molecular pathways mediating MTC is crucial for the development of novel therapies. Cyclin-dependent kinase 5 (Cdk5) and its activators, p35 and p25, have recently been implicated in MTC etiology. P25 is a cleavage product of p35 and the binding of p25 to Cdk5 leads to aberrant Cdk5 activity.
