Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETS) arise from the diffuse endocrine system which produce biogenic amines and peptides that could be potential biomarker. We previously analysed proteomes secreted by NET cell lines and identified mac2BP as a putative marker which was also elevated in patients compared to healthy controls.

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PNETs) are a heterogeneous group of rare pancreatic neoplasms often diagnosed with distant metastases, which are associated with significantly poorer prognosis. Recurrent somatic mutations, chromosomal aberrations and gene expression signatures in PNETs have been described, but the clinical significance of these molecular changes is still poorly understood, and the clinical outcomes of PNET patients remain highly variable.

There are currently little targets for the diagnosis and treatment of GEP-NENs. Serum circulating exosomes (scrExos) are extracellular vesicles secreted by all cells especially neuroendocrine cells to some extent, circulating in the blood with proteins and nucleic acids.
