Introduction: Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES) can cause severe complications. In multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN1) related ZES, surgery has a controversial role and proton pump inhibitors (PPI) are usually first-line therapy, although some concerns regarding long-term use. Somatostatin analogs (SSA) both reduce hypergastrinemia and have an antiproliferative role.

Introduction: Gastrinomas represent a rare group of neuroendocrine tumors usually located in the duodenum or pancreas. They secrete gastrin, which is responsible for the clinical picture of severe acid-related peptic disease and diarrhea, known as the Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (ZES). While symptomatic control may be achieved with proton-pump inhibitors (PPIs) and somatostatin analogues (SSAs) treatment, little data is known regarding the possible anti-tumor effect of the peptide receptor radioligand therapy (PRRT) in gastrinoma patients.

Introduction: Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 (MEN 1) is a rare autosomal dominant condition characterized by the development of parathyroid, pancreaticoduodenal endocrine and pituitaty tumors. Pancreaticduodenal endocrine tumors (PDETs) are a frequent manifestation of MEN 1, with a prevalence ranging from 30 to 75%, and represent a major cause of death in one-third of patients. There is continuing debate on their management, mainly on the optimal surgical strategy, due to their multicentricity and high recurrence rate.
