Clinical Case of ACTH-secreting Thymic Carcinoma with Multiple Metastases to the Brain, Ovary and Skin

#237

Introduction: ACTH-secreting thymic carcinoma (TC) is a rare neuroendocrine tumor which has a very aggressive course. We present a case of ACTH-producing TC in a 36-year-old woman.

Aim(s): First symptoms of TC appeared in 32-year-old (weight gain, acne, edema in the lower extremities, opsomenorrhea). Gynecologist removed the ovarian tumor.

Materials and methods: In histological exam, the malignant Brenner ovarian tumor was revealed. After three courses of chemotherapy, the symptoms disappeared. Clinical and laboratory signs of CS developed one year after surgery. After clinical evaluation, thymectomy performed. Histological exam revealed poorly differentiated ACTH-producing neuroendocrine TC (GradeIII), Ki67-20%.
