Comparison of the AJCC and ENETS Staging Classifications for Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Pancreas
#214
Introduction: The AJCC Cancer Staging Manual (7th edition, 2010) has introduced a novel TNM staging classification for pancreatic NETs. This classification has not yet been validated.
Aim(s): To assess the prognostic relevance of the AJCC staging classification for pNETs and compare it with the ENETS staging classification for foregut NETs.
Materials and methods: Patients with pNETs treated at the Moffitt Cancer Center between 1999 and 2010 were assigned stages (I-IV) based on the AJCC as well as the ENETS classifications. Overall survival from time of initial diagnosis was measured and statistical significance for both classifications was calculated using the log-rank test.
