Diagnostic Algorithm of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors

#221

Introduction: Diagnostics of pNETs is associated with certain problems due to a variety of clinical features, including a rather small size of primaries and, quite often, multiple lesions.

Aim(s): To define a rational diagnostic algorithm for pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors.

Materials and methods: Three-hundred and thirty patients with pNETs have been in treatment at Moscow State Medical University for the last 20 years (254 insulinomas, 38 gastrinomas, 30 nonfunctioning NETs, three VIPomas, four glucagonomas, one somatostatinoma). All patients have been examined for MEN-1 syndrome, which has been revealed in 14% of the patients.
