Endoscopic Therapy with Argon Plasma Coagulation for Multiple Type 1 Gastric Carcinoid Tumors

#763

Introduction: Data regarding Type I gastric carcinoids and their evolution in prospective series are scarce, thus treatment and follow-up are not codified.

Aim(s): To describe the application of argon plasma coagulation (APC) to achieve eradication of multiple type I gastric carcinoid tumors.

Materials and methods: Over a 7-year period (July 2005-June 2012), fourteen patients attending for endoscopic assessment were identified with gastric carcinoid tumors at two tertiary referral centers. Patients underwent endoscopic application of APC to achieve eradication of multiple gastric carcinoid tumors. Patients with type I carcinoids were subsequently enrolled in an endoscopic follow-up program.
