Expression of Somatostatin Receptors in Neuroendocrine Tumors of the Lungs with Various Degrees of Malignancy

#2020

Introduction: Diagnostics and management of patients with neuroendocrine tumors of the lung requires an individual approach

Aim(s): Neuroendocrine tumors of the lungs and bronchi include highly differentiated typical and atypical carcinoids (TC and ATC) and low-grade small-cell (SCC) and large cell (LCC) neuroendocrine carcinomas of the lungs, which differ significantly in malignant potential, prognosis, response to therapy and patients’ survival.

Materials and methods: By immunohistochemistry method we examined the expression of SSR-2A, 3 and 5 in 117 neuroendocrine tumors of the lungs: 45 TC, 34 ATC, 27 SCC и 11 LCC.
