Gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) Neuroendocrine Tumors, Epidemiology and Clinical Retrospective Study from a Tertiary Care Center in North India

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) are a heterogeneous group of neoplasm derived from peptide- and amine-producing cells of the neuroendocrine system, characterized by the intracellular presence of markers of endocrine tissue, like chromogranin A, synaptophysin, neuronspecific enolase and having low to medium malignant potential.

Aim(s): To find out epidemiology and clinical behavior of NETs as there is limited data from India.

Materials and methods: Analysis of 24 cases of gastroenteropancreatic (GEP) NET diagnosed over three years (August 2009 to September 2012) at a tertiary care centre for liver diseases in India were done. Clinical and laboratory details and treatment received were analyzed.
