The Life Achievement Award 2019 has been awarded to Barbro Eriksson from Uppsala, Sweden. Barbro Eriksson is Professor and Senior Consultant of Endocrine Oncology and was the Head of the Department of Endocrine Oncology, Uppsala from 1998 until 2011. Her PhD thesis (1988) reported the use of chromogranins, systemic treatment and survival data in panNET patients.
Her main research interests have been Positronemission tomography (PET) with specific tracers for NEN tumor (11C-5-HTP, 68Ga-SSA, GLP-1R) and the development of new therapeutic agents, including interferon, SSA, temozolomide (introduced it in 1999), molecular targeted agents and PRRT. She is one of the founding members of ENETS and is now a member of the ENETS Advisory Board. She is reviewer for several journals, including Neuroendocrinology, Lancet Oncology, Lancet Diabetes and Endocrinology, and the co-author of 257 publications, 202 of which are original articles.
