Incidence of Second Malignancy in Patients with Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs) of the Ileum and Colon (MGC)

#669

Introduction: Increased incidence of second malignancy is observed in NETs (Kamp et al 2012).

Aim(s): To identify the incidence of second malignancy in MGC, one of the more common NETs, and to determine which cancers occur most frequently in these patients.

Materials and methods: Retrospectively, we identified patients with MGC. Diagnosis was confirmed by pathology or by clinical syndrome and biomarker. Patient demographics were recorded and only those patients who could be followed up to 1 September 2012 or to death were included.
