Incidence of second primary tumors in patients with neuroendocrine tumors

#141

Introduction: Based on epidemiological data from SEER 1950-1999, 22.4% cases of non-carcinoid second primary tumors have been described in patients diagnosed with neuroendocrine tumors. The incidence of this type of tumors varies, depending on the series assessed.

Aim(s): To describe the incidence of second primary tumors in our case series and to analyze the location and histological subtypes of these tumors.

Materials and methods: Our database (Argentum Group) was studied. Incidence data and the description of synchronous or metachronous occurrence of these types of tumors in the study population were obtained. The Argentum Group database includes 249 patients included in the series after an updating.
