Left Pancreatectomy for Neuroendocrine Pancreatic Tumors

#520

Introduction: Distal pancreatectomy for neuroendocrine tumors localized in the body-tail of the pancreas (NTP) can be performed either with splenectomy (DP) or with a spleen-preserving procedure (SPLP).

Aim(s): To retrospectively evaluate postoperative complications and clinical outcome of patients submitted to laparotomic DP or SPLP for pancreatic endocrine tumors.

Materials and methods: We reviewed clinical data of patients who underwent laparotomic left pancreatectomy for NTP from January 1981 to December 2010, evaluating histological features, staging, type of surgery, early and late complications, follow-up (FU) and disease-free survival (DFS).
