Again, ENETS is delighted to confirm and introduce exceptional women from various medical fields for the 15th Annual ENETS Conference who are making a great impact in the realm of Neuroendocrine Tumor Research. ENETS emphasizes not to miss their talks or role as chairwomen during the three day conference.
Rocio Garcia-Carbonero is a medical oncologist with particular expertise in gastrointestinal neoplasias. She is an associate professor and coordinates the Gastrointestinal (GI) Tumor Unit at the Hospital Universitario Doce de Octubre in Madrid. She is a member of the ENETS Executive Committee and of the Spanish Society of Medical Oncology (SEOM). Her major areas of research interest are the development of new drugs or therapeutic strategies in the field of GI tumors, particularly NETs and colorectal cancer, and the development of biomarkers of diagnostic or therapeutic interest in this field. She will hold a much anticipated talk covering "When Do I Choose Chemotherapy Versus Molecular Targeted Agent in G1 and G2 NETs? " during the 8th Postgraduate Course on Wednesday, 7 March 2018 from 15:40 - 16:00.
Professor Jie Chen is Deputy Director of the Department of Gastroenterology, the First Affiliated Hospital, Sun Yat-Sen University, Guangzhou, China. Her main area of interest is digestive neuroendocrine tumors. As one of the pioneer expert for NETs in China, she devotes her attention on clinical and translational research of GEP-NETs. She founded the first Multidisciplinary Care Team for NETs in China in 2011 and the Chinese Study Group for Neuroendocrine Tumors (CSNET) in 2015. She is currently the Chair of CSNET. Her major areas of research interest are the therapeutic strategies of NETs and the development of biomarkers of diagnostic or therapeutic interest in NETs. She will chair the much promising “Session 2: Epidemiology - ENETS Meets East and West” on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 10:25 - 11:25.
Professor Vera Gorbunova has been the Chief of the Chemotherapy Department of the Russian Oncological Scientific Center at the Academy of Medical Sciences from 1989 till 2017. Currently she serves as senior scientific advisor at the department of chemotherapy. She has been a Full Professor since 1995. Areas of her scientific interest include but are not limited to lung, breast, ovarian, kidney cancer, carcinoma of the uterine and cervix, antiemetic therapy and others. She will chair “Session 9: Standards of Care for Merkel Cell Carcinoma” on Friday, 9 March 2018 from 14:15 - 14:45.
Professor Beata Kos-Kudla currently serves as Chair of the Department of Endocrinology and Neuroendocrine Tumors at the Medical University of Silesia, Katowice, Poland. She founded Polish Network for Neuroendocrine Tumors and National NET Register. She is President Elect of the Polish Society of Endocrinology, a member of Executive Committee of the European Society of Endocrinology and a member of the Advisory Board of ENETS, where she also served as a member of the Executive Committee, and was an active participant in creating the European NET Register. She will chair "Session 10: Where Are We Going? " on Friday, 9 March 2018 from 14:45 - 15:35.
Dr. Elettra Merola, MD, PhD is a gastroenterologist and researcher currently working at the FAU Erlangen University, Germany. She received her medical degree in 2005 from Campus Bio Medico (Rome, Italy). She completed in 2009 her residency in Gastroenterology and in 2013 her PhD in Digestive Oncology at Sapienza University (Rome, Italy) where she worked until May 2017. In March 2017 she was awarded with the ENETS CoE Academy Fellowship Grant and is a member of the ENETS young researcher group EEAF. She will hold, together with Vikas Prasad (Germany), one of the interactive morning workshops entitled: “Workshop 1: Gastroenterologist and Nuclear Medicine View Functional Imaging and PRRT Treatment – When and How Often Is It Really Needed?” on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 07:30 - 08:30.
Dr. Anja Rinke is currently Center Coordinator at the ENETS Center of Excellence at the University Hospital Marburg in Germany. She studied medicine at the Philipps University Marburg between 1988 and 1995 and started her residency at the University Hospital Marburg in the Department for Gastroenterology in 1995. After her board certification for internal medicine in 2003 she specialized in gastrointestinal cancers particularly neuroendocrine tumors. She is a member of the ENETS Advisory Board, the Advisory Board of the German NET Registry, member of the German internists (BDI), German Society for Digestive and Metabolic Diseaes (DGVS) and the German working group of internists in Oncology (AIO). She will chair, together with Barbro Eriksson (Sweden), "Session 5A: Clinical Abstract Session", on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 16:10 - 17:10.
This year ENETS has received over 350 abstracts in the categories basic science, clinical and case reports. The posters will give authors a chance to further portray their research work on a Poster Board and as a digital version via the Poster Carrousel to a larger audience during the three day conference. Please read more about the poster process in the ENETS poster guidelines and don’t forget to upload your poster.
Sign up for the Centers of Excellence Training Workshop, which will take place on Wednesday, 7 March 2018. ENETS invites designated CoE coordinators, nurse practitioners with coordinating tasks in a center and heads of centers to take part in a training course to learn how to best adapt certification procedures and apply certification processes for NET healthcare management.
