15th Annual ENETS Conference Program is final, Life Achievement Award, Speakers Update
The Life Achievement Award 2018 recipient is Prof. Delle Fave. ENETS expresses great thanks to Prof. Delle Fave’s impressive contribution to NET. Gianfranco Delle Fave is Professor of Gastroenterology at Sapienza University of Roma, Specialist in Internal Medicine and Digestive Diseases. At the present, he is also the Scientific Director of the Pancreatic Center of Rome, President of the Italian Association of Neuroendocrine Tumors (ITANET) and President of the Digestive Diseases Foundation.
He has been a Founding Member of ENETS and the Founder of the European Center of Excellence in Rome for Diagnosis and Treatment of NET. Prof. Delle Fave will hold a talk during the Life Achievement Award entitled, “From Gut Hormones to Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors” on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 12:20 - 12:35.
ENETS has won an interdisciplinary group of medical professionals for the 15th Annual ENETS Conference and emphasizes not to miss their talks or role as chair during the conference.
Professor Martyn Caplin is Professor of Gastroenterology & GI Neuroendocrinology at the Royal Free Hospital and University College London. In addition to being the Chairman of ENETS (2014-2016) and now Vice - Chairman as of 03/2016, he has been with ENETS since its foundation in 2004. He also leads The Royal Free Hospital’s “European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society’s Centre of Excellence”. Furthermore, he leads both scientific and clinical research program into neuroendocrine tumors. He has been program lead and chair of the ENETS Postgraduate Courses since the past 8 years. He will introduce and chair the 8th ENETS Postgraduate Course as well as hold the talk covering "New Directions for Bronchial NET " on Wednesday, 7 March 2018 from 12:30 - 13:00.
Wouter W. de Herder is Professor of Endocrine Oncology at the Erasmus MC (university hospital) in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. He is Chairman of a multidisciplinary group for endocrine oncology at the Erasmus MC (tumorwerkgroep endocriene tumoren) and also Head of the ENETS Centre of Excellence for Neuroendocrine Tumors. His major research interests are neuroendocrine and endocrine tumors. He served as a Board Member of the Dutch Society for Endocrinology (NVE) (2009–2014) and served as Chairman (2006-2008) as well as Vice-Chairman of the European Neuroendocrine Tumour Society (ENETS) from 2008-2010. He will hold the talk covering “Refractory Carcinoid Syndrome and Other Hormonal Syndromes – How to Manage?” during the Postgraduate Course on Wednesday, 7 March 2018 from 14:00 - 14:20.
Ulrich Knigge is associate-professor of gastrointestinal surgery at Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen. He became MD 1978, DMSc 1989, Specialist in Surgery 1991 and Specialist in Gastrointestinal Surgery 1994. Since 1994 he has been Director of the Neuroendocrine Tumor Centre of Excellence at Rigshospitalet with around 400 new referrals yearly. In 2009, under his guidance, the NET Centre at Rigshospitalet was certified as ENETS Centre of Excellence among the first six Centers in Europe. He will hold the Interactive Workshop 2 together with Philippe Ruszniewski, entitled “Gastroenterologist and Surgeons View
Management of Gastric Neuroendocrine Neoplasms” on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 07:30 - 08:30.
In addition, he will hold the talk covering “Indications and Type of Surgery for Gastric and Duodenal NENs” during the Postgraduate Course on Wednesday, 7 March 2018 from 10:10 - 10:30.
Professor Philippe Ruszniewski works currently in the Department of Gastroenterology-Pancreatology at Beaujon Hospital, Clichy, France. He is Professor of Gastroenterology at Paris Diderot Medicine Faculty and Dean of the Faculty since July 2015. His main areas of interest are neuroendocrine tumors and pancreatic diseases. He served as President of the European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS) between 2010 and 2012, then Vice-Chairman, and he is currently a member of the ENETS Advisory Board. He will hold the Interactive Workshop 2 together with Ulrich Knigge, entitled “Gastroenterologist and Surgeons View Management of Gastric Neuroendocrine Neoplasms” on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 07:30 - 08:30.
Bertram Wiedenmann is Professor of Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology at the Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, one of the largest university hospitals in Europe. In 1985, following his discovery of synaptophysin, his scientific interests focused on translational research in gastrointestinal oncology, specifically neuroendocrine tumor disease of the gastroenteropancreatic system. He has been Treasurer of ENETS since 2008 and served 2004-2006 as ENETS first Chairman. He was originally part of the scientific and medical task force which founded ENETS in 2004. He has also initiated the ENETS Centers of Excellence and developed the CoE Excellence Academy Fellowship Program. He will hold the dedication for the Life Achievement Award 2018 Recipient Prof. Gianfranco Delle Fave on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 12:15 - 12:35.
Clinical and translational research has been focus of Prof. Yaos academic career. He has served as Principal Investigator on numerous phase I, II, and III clinical trials including leading five multi-center national or international clinical trials including the phase III RADIANT-3 study that advanced the standard of care for advanced pancreatic NETs and the phase III RADIANT-4 study that set the standard of care for lung and GI NETs. Dr. Yao has a strong interest in novel clinical trial designs as well as biomarker development. He is also a Founding Member and Past-Chair of North American Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (NANETS). He will hold the talk covering “Angiogenesis in NET – Where Are We Now?” during Session 1 on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 09:05 - 09:30.
There will be three Interactive Workshops taking place on Thursday, 8 March 2018 from 07:30-08:30. The workshops will be addressing views from gastroenterology, cardiology, Endocrinology, surgery and nuclear medicine.
The workshops have limited spaces and pre-registration is advised.
