Promoting High Quality Care in Clinical Trials for Patients with Neuroendocrine Tumors (NETs)

#1449

Introduction: The European Institute of Oncology is an ENETS Center of Excellence. Many patients (pts) are treated in clinical trials. The clinical research nurse (CRN) is a key figure in care delivery. Optimising staff resources means some trial activities are delivered by nursing staff with limited research experience. To provide high quality care & accurate trial results, all nursing staff caring for NET pts should have appropriate trial related support and training.

Aim(s): To involve nursing staff, develop knowledge, ensure pt safety and high quality research in NET studies.

Materials and methods: We used the Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA) quality improvement tool, to problem solve and implement potential solutions - a methodology applied in various healthcare settings.
