Radio guided surgery in neuroendocrine tumours using 68Ga-labeled somatostatin analogs – a pilot study.

#169

Introduction: Radioguided surgery (RGS) is an intraoperative localizing technique for the detection of cancer tissue using tumor-specific radionuclides.

Aim(s): To test the feasibility of doing RGS using short-lived positron emitters 68Ga labeled with somatostatin receptor analogs.

Materials and methods: 68Ga -SMS-R PET/CT imaging was performed preoperatively in 9 patients with neuroendocrine tumors. Statistical analyses was performed to find out the correlation between the pathological size of the tumor lesions and the maximum standardized uptake value (SUVmax) on PET/CT as well as the target/non-target ratio (T/NT) of gamma probe counts.
