Serotonin-Secreting NeuroEndocrine Neoplasms of the Pancreas: Which Are the Primary Pancreatic Carcinoids?
#2909
Introduction: Serotonin-secreting pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (5-HT-secreting pNENs) are very rare. They are characterised by high urinary 5-hydroxyindole-acetic acid (5-HIAA) levels (or high serum 5-HT levels).
Aim(s): To evaluate clinic-pathological features, treatment and prognosis of 5-HT-secreting pNENs patients.
Materials and methods: Patients with a 5-HT-secreting pNEN observed in our unit (1986-2015) were included. Diagnosis was based on high urinary 5-HIAA levels and/or high serum 5-HT levels. Follow-up (FU) to December 2018.
