The Number of Positive Nodes Accurately Predicts Recurrence after Distal Pancreatectomy for Nonfunctioning Neuroendocrine Neoplasms Abstract #3014

Introduction: The most appropriate staging system of metastatic lymph nodes (N) for resected pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) remains unclear, especially regarding those resected by distal pancreatectomy (DP).
Aim(s): Evaluate the impact of the number of metastatic N on disease-free survival (DFS) after DP for non-functioning (NF) PanNETs and to define the minimum number of examined LN for appropriate nodal staging.
Materials and methods: All consecutive NF-PanNENs operated on by DP in four expert Europeans centers, with at least 2 years of postoperative follow-up, were retrospectively studied. NF-PanNETs with metastatic N were sub-classified into N1 (1-3 positive N) and N2 (≥4 positive N). Univariate and multivariate analyses of DFS were performed. The optimal number of examined N was determined by ROC curve.
