The Role of Image and Chromogranin A Level at Diagnosis: A Portuguese Review of 19 Patients

#368

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NET) constitute a heterogeneous group of neoplasms. Biochemical neuroendocrine markers offer high sensitivity in establishing the diagnosis and, if correlated with image assessment, can provide important prognostic information.

Aim(s): To review all cases of NETs treated in Capucho's Oncology Department, between 2008-2011, focusing on diagnosis.

Materials and methods: Nineteen cases (13 male, 6 female) of NETs were reviewed. Mean age at diagnosis was 64.6 (range 30-84). Histology with Ki-67 and/or mitotic count was available in all patients. All of them underwent CT and Octreoscan (99mTc-Octreotide) at diagnosis.
