Treatment and Prognosis of Patients with Poorly Differentiated Neuroendocrine Tumors
#311
Introduction: Poorly differentiated neuroendocrine tumors (PDEC) represent less than 10% of all neuroendocrine tumors but have a poor prognosis.
Aim(s): To study clinical, biochemical and imaging data on prognosis and survival and to investigate survival in patients treated with chemotherapy.
Materials and methods: A retrospective study of 32 PDEC patients (19 males, 13 females, median age at diagnosis 63 years (range 35-90)) admitted at the Neuroendocrine Tumor Center at Aarhus University Hospital in the period 2000-2008. Median Ki-67 index was 45%, and higher in colon (85%, 50-98) compared to pancreas (25%, 20-40) PDEC. Data were obtained from patient files.
