Uncinatectomy: Rethinking the Surgical Approach for Neuroendocrine and Intraductal Papillary Mucinous Neoplasms of the Pancreas

#1427

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNETs) and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms (IPMN) are increasingly recognized pancreatic tumors due to advances in imaging. Standard of care is surgical resection for these tumors is via the appropriate procedure: pancreaticoduodenectomy or enucleation.

Aim(s): We present a case series on three patients with these two types of tumors in the uncinate process of the pancreas who were treated via an uncinatectomy with roux-en-y anastomosis, a novel surgical technique.
