Value of Octreoscan and 18FDG-PET for Clinical Prognosis of Patients with Neuroendocrine Neoplasms Abstract #1317

Introduction: Despite the existence of biological markers of aggressiveness, the clinical course of gastro-entero-pancreatic (GEP) neuroendocrine neoplasms (NEN) remains difficult to predict. Discrepancies between imaging data generated with 111In-pentetreotide scintigraphy (SRS) and 18 F-FDG-PET could reflect the degree of cellular de-differentiation.
Aim(s): To test the overall prognostic value of the combined use of these two imaging modalities.
Materials and methods: NEN patients with both types of studies were identified retrospectively from the SwissNET database. Disease evolution was correlated with functional imaging results.

#2844 Rectal Neuroendocrine Tumor with Chromogranin Expression Is Associated with Aggressive Clinical Behavior and Worse Prognosis
Introduction: Although rectal neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) with L-cell phenotype and small tumor size generally had better clinical behavior, the new 2019 WHO classification classified all rectal NETs are malignant without considering L-cell phenotype and small tumor size. Therefore, identifying biomarkers of rectal NETs is important to stratify the clinical behavior of rectal NETs.

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PanNETs) are a heterogeneous group of neoplasms with unpredictable clinical course and biological behavior. Nucleophosmin (NPM) is an important multifunctional protein mainly located in the nucleolus. NPM has been reported to be overexpressed in many types of human cancer, activating tumor development and progression. However, the role of NPM in PanNETs is unknown.
