Difficulties in Differential Diagnostics of Neuroendocrine Tumors

#248

Introduction: Primary neuroendocrine tumors (NET) of soft tissues and soft tissue metastases are seen rarely and need differentiation from other types of tumors (as chemodecroma or paraganglioma).

Aim(s): We observed a rare case of NET tumor of the cervical region which was falsely diagnosed as chemodectoma (paraganglioma).

Materials and methods: The 59-year-old woman was followed-up in another clinic for 17 years with a diagnosis of nonresectable chemodectoma in the right cervical region. She was referred to our center in 2009 and by CT the cervical soft tissues lesion and multiply pulmonary lesions were revealed. Tumor enucleation in SIII and cervical lesion biopsy were performed.
