Incidence and Characteristics of Ileo-colonic Neuroendocrine Tumours Identified in the UK Bowel Cancer Screening Programme Abstract #1585

Introduction: Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in the UK this had led to development of the bowel cancer screening programmes (BCSPs).There are few epidemiological data on rectal or ileal NETs diagnosed in BCSPs.
Aim(s): This study aims to identify the number of NETs diagnosed through the UK BCSP.
Materials and methods: UK bowel cancer colonoscopy data is stored on the Exeter database managed by Public Health England (PHE). Queries were developed by PHE to capture potential NET related search terms across relevant data tables in the Exeter database. Queries were run to identify BCSP participants attending for colonoscopy from 2006 to December 2014. A written proforma was sent to the responsible BCSP clinician for all participants identified with NET related search terms.

#1459 Does Faecal Occult Blood Testing Help Identify Ileo-Colonic NETs in the UK Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP)?
Introduction: There has been an increase in the incidence of ileo-colonic NETs in recent years, partly from endoscopy. There is no published data on the incidence of NETs diagnosed in the UK ‘double’ screen BCSP of initial Faecal Occult Blood stool test (FOBt) and, if abnormal, colonoscopy. The incidence (per 100k) of colorectal cancer (CRC) in FOBt abnormal UK BCSP colonoscopy is 55 times that of the population incidence (10k vs 184).

#1306 The Role of Ga68-DOTATOC-PET-CT in Routine Screening of Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia Type 1
Introduction: Multiple endocrine neoplasia type 1 is a tumor syndrome characterized by NENs of the pancreas, duodenum, parathyroid, pituitary, adrenal, thymus and bronchi. Gene carriers are recommended participation in prospective screening programs at expert centers. Ga68-DOTATOC-PET-CT is an increasingly used very sensitive imaging technique for GEP-NENs.

#1177 An Isolated Abnormal Chromogranin B Is Associated with Pancreato-Duodenal NETs and the Presence of Liver Metastases
Introduction: Chromogranin B (CgB) is a soluble secretory protein like chromogranin A (CgA) that has been reported to be elevated in patients with neuroendocrine tumours (NETs) but is not routinely assessed.

#1209 Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Incidentalomas: When is Surgery in the Patient’s Best Interests?
Introduction: Small PNETs, many of which are diagnosed incidentally, pose a management dilemma. Whilst resection offers curative outcomes, the risks of surgery have led many to adopt surveillance strategies. 2cm is often used as a threshold for malignancy, but reports suggest that this value may not be valid.

#1233 CA 19-9: A Novel Role in the Prognosis of Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors
Introduction: Prognostication is difficult for neuroendocrine tumours given their long survival. Staging, grading using Ki67 and receptor status are tools commonly used, but are not without their limitations. CA 19-9 is a tumour marker used in the diagnosis and follow-up of pancreatic adenocarcinomas despite multiple confounding factors, including jaundice. CA 19-9 is not useful in the diagnosis of PNETs having a sensitivity of only 19%, but it is not known whether it has other roles in PNETs.
