Serial 89Zr-bevacizumab PET in Patients with Neuroendocrine Tumors before and on Everolimus Treatment Abstract #912

Introduction: Everolimus increases PFS in patients with advanced NETs. Currently, no biomarkers are available for early selection of patients who will benefit from everolimus. Everolimus can reduce VEGF-A production by tumor cells.
Aim(s): Therefore, we aimed to investigate the effect of everolimus on tumor uptake of radioactive labelled VEGF-A antibody bevacizumab with PET in NET patients.
Materials and methods: Fourteen patients with advanced progressive well-differentiated NET underwent 89Zr-bevacizumab PET scans before, and at two and 12 weeks on everolimus treatment. 89Zr-bevacizumab uptake was quantified by SUVmax. Tumor response and % change in sum of target lesion diameters was determined according to RECIST1.1 on CT 3-monthly.

#20 Paraneoplastic antigen Ma2 (PNMA2) auto-antibodies as biomarkers for early small intestine neuroendocrine tumors detection
Introduction: Small intestine neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) comprise well-differentiated NET (benign carcinoid), well-differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma (malignant carcinoid) and poorly differentiated neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC). The majority of NET patients have developed liver metastases at the time of diagnosis and surgery is then seldom curative. Novel predictive, diagnostic and prognostic markers are thus needed to improve our capabilities to diagnose and cure these tumors. We have previously identified six novel marker genes for neuroendocrine tumor cells by using Affymetrix microarrays and advanced bioinformatics. One of this markers, the paraneoplastic antigen Ma2 (PNMA2), which is normally expressed only in nervous tissue, can in the process of carcinogenesis be detected in tumors located outside the nervous system. The finding that Ma2 is expressed in small intestine neuroendocrine primary tumors and their metastases made it interesting to screen whether antibodies against Ma2 are present in the serum of NET patients.

#115 68Ga-DOTA-TATE PET-CT comparison with 99mTc-HYNIC-TOC SPECT-CT in the assessment of the extent of the disease in patients with malignant endocrine tumors: our experience (preliminary results)
Introduction: In neuroendocrine tumors (NETs), the workup is often difficult not only to visualize but also to co-localize the lesions anatomically. Liver and bones are one of the most frequent sites of metastases in patients with endocrine tumors. The Tyr3-octreotate (TATE) somatostatin analogue differs from TOC in that the terminal threonine replaces threoninol. The terminal threonine results in a higher receptor binding (mainly subtype 2) and better internalisation, with the consequence that tumor uptake of the tracer is intense.
