Expression of UCH-L1 in PETs and its Implications Abstract #413

Introduction: There is a lack of reliable biomarkers to distinguish benign from malignancy in pancreatic endocrine tumors (PETs) and to predict prognosis. Our previous study on insulinoma found the expression of UCH-L1 in these tumors. The diagnostic or prognostic value of this protein has not been well demonstrated in PETs.
Aim(s): To identify UCH-L1 expression in PETs and its clinical implications, to study the epigenetic mechanism underlying UCH-L1 expression.
Materials and methods: Two-hundred and twenty-six PETs from 221 patients and 79 paired tissues were studied and 167 pts were followed. Immunohistochemistry staining (IHC) was used to test protein expression. Methylation of UCH-L1 promoter was tested by MSP and sequencing. Chi-square, Kaplan-Meier analysis and logistic regression were used for statistical analysis.

#359 Expression of UCH-L1 in Pancreatic Endocrine Tumors and Its Clinical Significance
Introduction: Pancreatic endocrine tumors (PETs) are rare tumors with distinct clinical syndromes. There is a lack of reliable biomarker to distinguish benign and malignant form of PETs as well as to predict its prognosis. Our previous proteomic study on insulinoma found that overexpression of UCH-L1 in tumors. The diagnostic or prognostic value of this protein has not been well addressed in PETs.

#540 Diagnositc and Prognostic Role of 68GA-DOTATATE PET in Patients with Neuroendocrine Tumors
Introduction: Octreoscan (OS) is currently the gold standard for diagnosis of somatostatin receptor positive NET but it is limited by a lower spatial resolution and physiological uptake noises. DOTATATE is a somatostatin analogue, radiolabelled with 68Ga and adapted for PET imaging.
