Oral Carcinoid Mimicking as non Healing Ulcer. A Case Report.

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors are the aggressive tumors resulting in sheer morbidity and mortality of the patients. The true origin of oral neuroendocrine carcinomas remains unclear.

Aim(s): Since neuroendocrine tumors of the oral cavity are very rare, we still report a 56 year old woman who presented to the department of surgery because of a non healing ulcer.

Materials and methods: A 56 year old women presented to the surgery department of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital Lahore. Her presenting complaints were non healing ulcer, decreased oral intake and sudden weight loss. Ulcer was painful, non healing from the last 4 months and located on the lateral aspect of the right side of the tongue. Rest of the history was unremarkable. All radiological, laboratory investigations were done. At the end incisional biopsy was done and sent for histopathology and immunohistochemistry.
