Honouring outstanding ENETS members

With this page, ENETS remembers members who have passed away and whose dedication, scientific achievements and humanity profoundly shaped our society and the field of neuroendocrine tumour research. We honour both honorary and outstanding members whose legacy continues to guide ENETS in its mission to advance research, clinical care and international collaboration.

The European Neuroendocrine Tumor Society (ENETS) mourns the passing of Professor Rudolf Arnold, who died on 20 September 2025 in Munich after a short but severe illness.

Professor Arnold was Chair of Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine at the University Hospital in Marburg from 1982 to 2005. He significantly advanced both clinical care and research in the field of neuroendocrine tumours during his tenure.

As a founding member of ENETS in 2004, he was instrumental in shaping international collaboration in neuroendocrine tumour research. In recognition of his outstanding contributions, he was honoured with the ENETS Life Achievement Award in 2009 in Granada.
