#4606 Neuroendocrine mess – Ectopic Cushing syndrome and severe hypokalaemia

Introduction: Cushing Syndrome (CS) is the condition resulting from hypercortisolaemia. Ectopic Cushing Syndrome (ECS) is responsible for up to 20% of all CS cases. Pancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (pNEN) are responsible for 10-20% of those cases.

#3679 Ectopic Cushing's syndrome caused by a well differentiated ACTH-secreting neuroendocrine tumor of the ileum

Introduction: Ectopic Cushing syndrome is responsible for 20% of cases of Cushing’s syndrome (CS); with presentation ranging from undetectable lesions to metastatic carcinomas. Ectopic ACTH syndrome (EAS) of intestinal origin is very rare, only five patients have been reported. In this article, we report a case of an ileal ACTH-secreting Neuroendocrine tumor.

#3239 Prevalence and presentation of Cushing and carcinoid syndromes in patients with non-metastatic primary lung neuroendocrine tumors (NETs)

Introduction: Carcinoid syndrome and Cushing syndrome are rare in non-metastatic lung NETs. In patients with small bowel NETs, carcinoid syndrome is usually associated with metastatic disease. In lung NETs, biologically active substances may be released directly into systemic circulation without inactivation in the liver or lungs.

Introduction: ACTH secreting neuroendocrine tumors can be a pituitary adenoma, an ectopic tumor, or very rarely - pituitary carcinoma. The identification of the primary neuroendocrine tumor can be challenging or even unsuccessful.

#2885 Ectopic Neuroendocrine Carcinoma: An Occult Source of ACTH

Introduction: About 250 cases of ectopic ACTH-producing neuroendocrine carcinoma (ACTH-NEC) have been reported; however metastatic ACTH-NEC of unknown primary is very rare. Usually are characterized by having a large cell, small cell, poorly differentiated or anaplastic cell, and Ki-67 index between 40-90%.
