131I-MIBG scintigraphy in the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma: Retrospective study of 50 cases
#3421
Introduction: Pheochromocytoma is a rare tumor of the adrenal medulla. Its exploration with Metaiodobenzylguanidine (MIBG) scintigraphy is one of the current standard diagnostic procedures.
Aim(s): Isotopic exploration of the pheochromocytoma.
Materials and methods: Retrospective study including pheochromocytoma patients referred for MIBG scintigraphy from 01/2010-12/2020. They were prepared (discontinuation of medications, thyroid blockade and hydration) before a slow intravenous injection of 40-80 MBq of 131l-MIBG and imaging were accomplished 48 and 72 hours after injection.
