Adrenal Metastases and Neuroendocrine Breast Carcinoma in a MEN-1 Patient

#716

Introduction: In Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 1 (MEN-1) pituitary, parathyroid and pancreatic/duodenal endocrine cells are typically involved. Other neoplasms also occur.

Aim(s): To present the first case of a MEN-1 syndrome with mixed neuroendocrine breast cancer with adrenal metastases.

Materials and methods: A 56-year-old MEN-1 female patient with Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, who had already been treated with a subtotal paratiroidectomy and excision of a single abdominal nodal metastasis of gastrinoma, developed a 4.5 cm right adrenal mass. A 111-Indium-Octreoscan showed a focal uptake in the right breast. The patient underwent enucleation of the mammary lesion, right adrenalectomy and excision of a small (2.0 mm size) duodenal lesion.
