Analysis of AI-based clinical trial search tool usage reveals motivations of neuroendocrine tumors patients in searching for trials
#4231
Introduction: It is challenging to recruit neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) patients to clinical trials. Delays in trial recruitment are detrimental to progress in clinical research. One potential reason for delays is that many patients report not being offered trials.
Aim(s): The project team aimed to investigate patient motivations for searching for trials when patients were provided with an online trial search tool.
Materials and methods: The project began by introducing an online, AI-powered trial search tool (Ancora.ai) to NETs patient organisations who highlighted the tool to their communities. Two optional questions were introduced in the tool. The first asked users if they are interested to join a trial in the next 6 months, and the second asked about their motivation for using the tool.
