Biliary complications for metastatic patients with neuroendocrine tumours of the pancreatic head and their influence on survival: Is it necessary to change the current management?
#4507
Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumours of the pancreatic head (NETPH) can be associated with local complications. At the metastatic stage, surgery of the primary tumour (PT) is not a standard of care. But the biliary complications (BC) due to the untreated NETPH may complicate the management and deteriorate the prognosis.
Aim(s): To evaluate the risk of BC due to the PT in patients with NETPH and synchronous liver metastases (SLM) and analyse its influence on survival.
Materials and methods: This retrospective single-centre study included all patients diagnosed with well-differentiated PaNET with SLM (1987-2023). BC was defined as a symptomatic obstruction of the biliary tract. OS was calculated from the date of diagnosis according to Kaplan Meier.
