Comparison of postoperative textbook outcome between pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma – A nationwide retrospective cohort study

#3789

Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (pNET) represent only 6% of pancreatic tumors, compared to 93% for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Textbook outcome (TO) is a composite outcome measure that reflects a hospital’s surgical performance as well as quality of current practice.

Aim(s): The aim of this study was to compare TO of pancreatic resections performed for pNET and PDAC in the Netherlands.

Materials and methods: This retrospective cohort study included all consecutive patients who underwent pancreatic resection for pNET or PDAC in all 19 centers in the mandatory nationwide Dutch Pancreatic Cancer Audit (2014 – 2021). The primary outcome was TO; defined as the absence of postoperative pancreatic fistula (POPF), postoperative bile leak, postpancreatectomy hemorrhage, major complications, 30-day readmission, postoperative mortality. Logistic regression was used to identify independent risk factors for TO.
