Comparison of preoperative chemotherapy and radio ligand therapy on prognosis after surgical resection for locally advanced or hepatic metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours
#4661
Introduction: The role of preoperative treatments in improving the rate of radical resection and survival of either locally advanced (LA) or hepatic metastatic (HM) pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (panNETs) is unclear.
Aim(s): To compare surgical outcomes for LA or HM panNETs following either chemotherapy (CT) or Radio Ligand Therapy (RLT). Primary endpoint was event-free survival (EFS), whilst secondary endpoint was radical resections rate.
Materials and methods: This retrospective study includes patients who underwent surgery for LA or HM panNETs after either CT or RLT at two referral centres. Propensity score analysis with inverse probability weighting (IPWT) was adopted to adjust differences between CT and RLT treatments and centre effects (including liver transplantation [LT] in one centre).
