Contrast-Enhanced Ultrasonography (CEUS) Reliably Predicts Tumor Progression in Pancreatic Neuroendocrine Tumors

#724

Introduction: Neuroendocrine tumors (NETs) exhibit a typical vascular pattern in the arterial phase on CEUS. The role of CEUS in the prognostic evaluation of pancreatic NET (pNET) has been poorly investigated.

Aim(s): To prospectively investigate the prognostic role of CEUS in pts with pNET.

Materials and methods: Forty-seven pts with pNET underwent CEUS at the time of diagnosis. Twenty-five were non-functioning and 22 functioning pNETs. Multiple liver metastases (LMs) were in all 25 pts with non-functioning pNETs and in one with functioning pNET. Ki-67 index was available in 33/47 pts. Tumor progression was evaluated by using contrast-enhanced CT performed at 6- and 12-month follow-up and was based on Recist criteria.
