Epidemiologic study of neuroendocrine differentiation in different carcinomas

#3806

Introduction: Carcinomas with neuroendocrine differentiation (NED) are characterized by clinical manifestations, pathological changes, treatment responses and poor prognosis. But there are few studies around the world currently. Further analysis of large clinical samples is still needed to reveal its biological characteristics and clarify the diagnosis and treatment of NED.

Aim(s): In this study, we aimed to screen the NED cases from the cancer patients admitted to our hospital, and further explore their characteristics of pathological and prognosis to shed light on scientific basis for further clinical practice.

Materials and methods: A retrospective study of the histopathological samples of patients diagnosed with malignant tumor was carried out using immunohistochemical techniques for NED markers, such as ChrA, Syno and CD56. The morbidity and prognosis of NED patient was analysed subsequently. In our study, eligible patients should have pathologically confirmed gastric cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer with no neoadjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy received before surgery.
