Evaluating multi-visceral resection for locally advanced and metastatic pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PNETs): Feasibility, safety and complications
#4463
Introduction: Pancreatic neuroendocrine tumours (PNETs) are rare but clinically significant neoplasms. Surgery can play a significant role in the multimodal treatment of PNETs. Multi-visceral resection involving organs in the left upper quadrant (LUQ) can be used with curative or cytoreductive intent in selected cases.
Aim(s): This study aims to assess the safety of multi-visceral resection on patients with PNETs treated at our centre.
Materials and methods: This was a retrospective analysis of a prospectively maintained database. Patient records between 2014 and 2024 were reviewed to identify those who underwent LUQ clearance for locally advanced PNETs, including pancreatectomy, splenectomy, and resection of other involved organs. Those undergoing pancreaticoduodenectomy were excluded from the study.
