Evaluation of neutrophile to lymphocyte and platelet to lymphocyte ratio in patients with medullary thyroid cancer (MTC)

#3797

Introduction: Medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) is a rare neoplasm in which the investigation of new biomarkers is essential. An elevated neutrophile to lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and platelet to lymphocyte ratio (PLR) has been proposed as a negative prognostic factor in several neoplasms, but their role in MTC is unclear.

Aim(s): Evaluate the potential role of NLR and PLR as biomarkers in a monocentric series of patients with sporadic MTC.

Materials and methods: The clinical data of patients with sporadic MTC, referred to the NET Unit of Federico II University of Naples (ENETS CoE) from 2012 to 2022, were retrospectively evaluated analysing preoperative and postoperative NLR and PLR values.
