Features of the expression of TTF-1 and Cytokeratin 19 as a predictor of a less favourable prognosis of atypical lung carcinoids
#3652
Introduction: Atypical lung carcinoids are a highly heterogeneous group of tumors, some of which have more malignant potential, which makes the search for additional morphological prognostic criteria relevant.
Aim(s): To study the features of the immunophenotype of highly differentiated neuroendocrine lung carcinoids, that can predict their more malignant potential.
Materials and methods: The expression of TTF-1, cytokeratin 19 (CK19) and Ki-67 in 147 lung carcinoids was studied by immunohistochemistry: 71 typical (TCL) and 76 atypical (ATCL), the latter were divided into 2 groups: ATCL-1 with Ki-67≤10% (47) and ATCL-1 with Ki-67≤10% (29).
